Frequently Asked Questions

Is my PDF uploaded to a server?

No. All processing happens entirely in your browser using PDF.js and pdf-lib. Your file never leaves your device.

What types of annotations can I add?

You can add text overlays, freehand drawings, highlights, rectangles, and drawn signatures. Annotations are flattened into the PDF on export.

Does this edit the original PDF text?

No. This tool adds content overlays (annotations) on top of the existing PDF. It does not modify embedded text in place. Use the Text tool to overlay new text on top of the existing content.

What happens to the annotations if I close the page?

Annotations are held in browser memory and are lost when you close or refresh the page. Download your PDF before leaving.

Is there a file size limit?

There is no hard limit, but very large PDFs may be slow to render as they are processed entirely in your browser.
